Care

How do I care for my Turkish towel?

Turkish towels are not only beautiful, they're also durable and long lasting when properly cared for. To keep your Turkish towels looking and feeling their best, there are a few simple steps you can follow.

All our towels are pre-washed so there's no need for a pre-soak. Towels can be washed on a gentle cycle in the washing machine, on a cold to medium heat with a mild detergent. When it comes to drying your towels it's best to avoid the dryer, as this can damage the fibers and reduce absorbency. Instead, hang towels to air dry in a well ventilated area, preferably in the shade. If this isn't practical then dry on a low to medium heat. You can use a warm iron to smooth out any wrinkles. Don't use bleach or fabric softener. Fabric softener will actually make your towel less absorbent. To remove excess detergent, add a cup of white vinegar to the wash once a month or so. If you notice any stains on your Turkish towel, don't panic. You can easily remove them by soaking the affected area in a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water for around 30 minutes before washing as normal. Caring for your Turkish towels is simple and easy. With proper care, your Turkish towels will continue to look and feel amazing for years.

How do the tassles wash?

Over time, you may find that a piece of the fringing or a tassle has loosened or come undone. This is an easy fix. The tassels need only a simple tug to tighten them back up. Should the twisted fringe come undone, simply separate the threads into two equal sections. Twist each section in a clockwise motion. Then twist both sections together in a counter clockwise motion. Tie the knot off at the end.

What should I do if my towel has a loose thread ?

If you find a pulled or loose thread in your Turkish towel don't worry. This is a common issue that can be easily fixed. First, locate the loose thread and gently tug it to see if it comes out easily. If it does, go ahead and remove it. If it doesn't come out easily, take a pair of scissors and carefully snip the thread as close to the towel as possible. Be sure to cut only the thread and not the surrounding fabric. This should take care of the issue. Remember, Turkish towels are made to last, and with proper care you can enjoy their softness and absorbency for years to come.
